ABOUT

Wasa is nestled between the Rocky Mountains and the Purcell Mountain Range, located on Highway 93/95 in the Kootenay River Valley between Skookumchuck and Fort Steele, 38 km northeast of Kimberley and 25 km north of Cranbrook. Wasa Lake was named by a Finnish settler after his native town of Vasa in Finland and is based around the small Wasa Lake. The village features most tourism amenities and is a growing recreational area. The area offers camping, swimming, hiking, cycling, boating and nature viewing opportunities. There is an 8 kilometre wheelchair and bike accessible trail around the lakeshore and a 2.7 kilometre self-guided interpretation trail. The village has been a family vacation destination since the 1950's and advertises the warmest swimming lake in the Kootenays.

Officially starting June 20th 2018, WestJet now flies from Calgary to the Canadian Rockies International Airport in just thirty minutes. Now all guests can experience all that the Kootenay Rockies region has to offer from the Calgary gateway. Airport pickup is available to all guests but a car is recommended for the area to enjoy all the fun activities!

HOSTED BY MARY & JAMES

Entrepreneurial by nature, we specialize in Sales, Marketing and Customer Service in the areas of Health and Wellness, Tourism, Real Estate, and Computer Applications. As Health and Wellness enthusiasts, we promote body, mind and spirit wellness within a healthy and sustainable environment. Avid outdoor enthusiasts, we chose the Kootenays, and Wasa Lake, because of its natural beauty and proximity to the mountains. Here we hike, cycle, swim, sail, waterski, kayak, ski...just to name a few of the things we do!

The perfect place to raise a family, we were extremely fortunate to have raised our four children here. Their love of the outdoors and the Kootenay lifestyle will forever be ingrained in their souls! The Kootenay's has so much to offer. We would love to share our knowledge of the area so that you and your families can appreciate the splendor that we so embrace every day. Extremely fortunate to have a fairy-tale lifestyle and live in one of the prettiest places.

We look forward to meeting you!
